Vic: Fire ravages 4,000 ha of national park
Fire has ravaged more than 4,000 hectares of Victoria's Wyperfeld (Wyperfeld) NationalPark, after the Department of Natural Resources and Environment officers lost controlof a burn-off.
Fires broke containment lines in four places in the national park in Victoria's north-westat the weekend.
But a department spokesman says only one of the fires is still out of control.
Extra firefighters will join the 80 department officers today to battle the blaze.
The spokesman says the fire has burnt only a small section of the large national park, and the vegetation needs fire to regenerate.
