Fed: Autobiography "could propel Costello to Libs leadership"=2

Shareholder activist and commentator Stephen Mayne, who ran against Mr Costello for
the Melbourne seat of Higgins, said he hoped the book was not being written on taxpayers
time.

"I was surprised to hear that he might be writing it while still in the parliament,"

Mr Mayne told ABC radio.

Mr Mayne said Mr Costello should not be taking a six-figure advance to write a book
this year while he is also collecting a six-figure taxpayer-funded salary to be an MP.

Mr Mayne said: "It will be a cracking book" and if Mr Costello goes for the jugular
it will be `one the great reads'."
